People around San Diego complain about the weather a lot. After the first few cold mornings last week I often heard other people talking about how sad they are that the mornings are getting colder. This was on land.

When you get down to the beach and into the water, there's nothing but excitement and appreciation for the season's change. Fall is amazing.

There are many reasons why Fall holds a special place in my heart. Here's a few of them.

The cool, crisp sunrises are almost flawless. Most mornings are so clear. When there's a few clouds, the burnt pastel colors really make it worth getting into the water in the dark of 6:30AM. The end of daylight savings is something to look forward to for dawn patrols.

When the sun crests over after a colorful sunrise, the angle of the sun makes a very gorgeous mix of shadows and sunlit patches of ocean water.

The winds are so great. It really makes up for all the months waiting for surfing conditions worth looking at.

Throw in a little bump of swell and you got a recipe for an absolute amazing morning.

Though, maybe some people get a little too excited for the season. Don't forget to look behind you.

The two shot sequence above could have been a really solid wave in and out, not to mention a great photo. Instead, the guy in the tube got closed off and the surfer creating the avalanche of a snowball didn't even get into the wave.

In other news, I'm running a giveaway on my Instagram page @blarrel

The 5'10" Hot Summer Arrow will be given to someone randomly who enters. Check out the post on my Instagram for more info.

Lastly, I've teamed up with Emily Collins at Keller Williams Realty. If you have any friends, family, or colleagues who are looking to buy or sell a home in or near San Diego, please us know and we’d love to help them!

Also if you know of anyone looking to buy or sell OUTSIDE of San Diego, even in another state, please let me know, because we could refer them to a wonderful Keller Williams agent near them.

I’m still working at a restaurant and hunting down surf photos as well, but looking forward to easing into a career full of high-adrenaline surf photos and real estate.

Thanks so much and always feel free to reach me through here, blarrelphoto@gmail.com, @blarrel on Instagram, or my work email: blairaustin@kw.com
